By default, pivot charts are embedded in the sheet that contains the pivot table.

The chart’s Series formulas contain the original data, stored in arrays. If you have a pivot chart and you delete the underlying pivot table, the pivot chart remains.

As I add more items with other coordinates, I want the bubble chart to update automatically with relative sizes. If you make changes to the chart using these buttons, those changes are also reflected in the pivot table. Example bubble chart (just a transparent bubble chart placed on top of coloured cells): Since 3 items corresponds to the (4, 1) coordinate, while only 1 item corresponds to (4, 2), I want the bubble in (4, 1) to be bigger. These controls allow you to filter the data that’s displayed in the pivot table (and pivot chart).

To create a pivot chart, select any cell in the pivot table and choose PivotTable Tools Options Tools PivotChart. You will find quite a few Bubble Charts on particularly in the dashboard section. They are very similar to a line chart without the line and with a bit more pizazas. The pivot table is certainly easier to interpret than the raw data, but the trends would be easier to spot in a chart. Creating Bubble charts in Excel is reasonably straight forward. The Region field is in the Column Labels area. The Date field is in the Row Labels area, and the daily dates have been grouped into months. The first step is to create a pivot table to summarize the data. This data will be used to create a pivot chart. This workbook, named sales by region pivot chart.xlsx, is available on the companion CD-ROM.

Adding a Background Image to a Worksheet.Entering Dates and Times into Your Worksheets.Entering Text and Values into Your Worksheets.I'll bet if I used the X & Y values in the data fields as it sounds like you're suggesting, then creat a dynamic named range for the PT's data, I may be able to get what I'm looking for. Tusharm - that sounds like an interesting work-around. I'm just surprised to find that scatterplots are bound to having their source dataset ordered, considering the capabilities. Thanks for the insight there, it helps give a little perspective on the situation. I've tried to use a line-less line graph for this same cause, but any time I have more than one defect in the same x-axis column, I get a summation (or whatever the field is set to). PaddyD - I am assessing defect patterns in a rectangular area and attempting to set up the pivot chart as a representation of that inspection area I have all of the defect locations in (x,y) coordinates, the axes I planned to set from 0-max for each (something like (0,0)-(750,1200)).
